|
| The Exeter Private Game Reserve was established by Loring Rattray in 1937. When the Sabi Sands Game Reserve was proclaimed in 1957, Exeter along with Sparta and Toulon, formed the main attraction of the now 65,000 hectare wildlife reserve. After the devastating floods in 2000 the Lodges underwent major refurbishment. However the main look and feel of the reserve was maintained and some of the accommodation that was not damaged date back to the 1930's and 1940's. Exeter Lodges, consists of Kirkmans Kamp, Dulini Private Game Lodge, Leadwood Private Game Lodge and River Private Game Lodge. |

The name ` Exeter ` originates from the names allocated by the original British land surveyors who named the properties after towns and counties in England. Many commercial properties changed their names, but for historical reasons Exeter Private Game Reserve has retained its original name. Exeter Private Game Reserve has recently undergone a major refurbishment, after the devastating floods of the earlier part of the new millennium. The character of the accommodation and lodge of the original Exeter Ranch Safaris has been retained in the newly constructed Exeter Private Game Reserve.
The Exeter properties offer an outstanding wildlife safari experience with consistent close and clear sightings of the Big Five and general wildlife. |
