IVORY LODGE

Ivory Lodge

The international award winning Lion Sands Ivory Lodge is ultra luxurious, yet simple and uncluttered. The lodge is about overriding exclusivity with complete privacy, where each suite is operated as a private villa. Neither word nor photograph can capture the sense of the pure beauty which is breathed in when opening the carved wooden doors leading into this private recluse – arguably the worlds finest suite.

Lion Sands Ivory Lodge was awarded third best hotel in the world by Tatler Magazine in 2006 and has been included in their “101 Best Hotels in the World” 2006 & 2007 listings. Accommodation: - The Lodge comprises six generously sized privately situated villas, each with a separate living room, heated swimming pool and an open plan en-suite bathroom with an enclosure for the outdoor shower – 6-star luxury in the middle of the bush. The colour scheme of ebony and ivory is interpreted in a modern style, while selected African accessories blend the old world with the new to create Afro-Euro chic. Breathtaking views of the Sabie River, which has flowing water all year around, can be viewed through the oversized windows of your villa or from your private viewing terrace. Baby elephants bathing in the river, zebra, gnu and the large Nile crocodile are the only neighbours you shall see.

Facilities: - The main lodge and entrance building comprise a private lounge & bar, wooden Reservationsing decks, board-room, wine cellar, gymnasium & health spa, curio shop & both an indoor and open-air (Boma) dining area.
Simple and uncluttered, the interiors achieve a contemporary, Afro-European elegance. It's a bold, yet balanced ambience that juxtaposes colour, texture and form. There's an overriding exclusivity, with complete privacy.

Activities: -The activities programme has been developed to enhance the guest's wildlife safari experience by enabling the guest to tailor their stay with us. The activities are all offered in a flexible and convenient environment and are exclusive to Lion Sand's guests.
Use of Private Land Rovers
The sole use of a Land Rover can be arranged upon request, subject to availability and will be at an additional charge.

The name 'Sabie' comes from the Zulu 'eSaba', meaning 'afraid'. Both man and beast approach the river with care and respect. It is at once a sanctuary of life and a gripping display of survival. It is what visitors from all over the World come to experience: raw, untouched nature. In ancient days, the lush Sabie River basin was overrun by Africa's largest reptile, the Nile crocodile. Today, they bask in the shallows in slightly less numbers, still snapping their deadly jaws at any creature wading in close enough.

Child policy: - Accommodation for children under the age of 10 years is not possible unless the lodge is block booked by the same family or group.

Communication: - The lodge has telephone, email and facsimile facilities.

Power Supply: - The lodge is powered by ESCOM and power points are available in the rooms for chargers, electrical shavers and hairdryers.

Location: -The Lodge has been built on the banks of the Sabie River with magnificent Reservationss, extending onto the open sand banks of the Kruger National Park.
The reception building is apart from the main lodge accommodation, ensuring that guests arrive and depart without compromising the privacy of the lodge experience.
The only private reserve situated on the perennial Sabie River.
Special programme of activities for clients to tailor their stay, including the famous Tree House experience.
